I’ve read a lot of Suzanne’s older works and love them. This is about 3.5 stars. It’s predictable and a little outdated. Marshall Devlin is a very likeable hero. I liked Leila Hunt just at times she can be so annoying. There constant fighting is a bit overboard. I thought it was only just cute that Marshall helped Leila find her New-Years-Kiss-Ninja. This is a typical Suzanne story. I don’t think I’ll continue reading this series though. In Kiss and Tell, there’s a taste of Simon Hunt and Leila’s bff Frankie’s budding romance. This is a nice breath away from Suzanne’s sharpshooters and Navy Seals. It’s a perfect quick read for hopeless romantics (like myself).

I got this for free in March 2012. I was looking for an Irish theme for St. Patty’s Day. The Morning After has a little bit of an Irish theme. IMO, the author probably added that they are from Ireland just to add to this typical romance. Heroine – Cara, is loping for normalcy. But then the hero comes back to town. Ethan is the exact opposite of her fiancee. And I should hope so, because that guy cheats on her. I did think it was a bit funny when Cara gets stuck in the Pooh costume. Why she was only wearing her underwear was ridiculous. But it was needed to create a scandal and a reason why Cara needed Ethan’s “help” from the paparazi.

The first half of this was good. A nice comical romance. But the humor died away. Along with my feelings towards Cara. This is still a good read. And for those hopeless romantics, this is a quick read to feed that craving.

This was a cute Young Adult short book. The grammar is hard to ignore. The bff’s brother crush and unrequited love was predictable. It was nice to see this 15 year timeline. I saw a some growth and maturity in the characters. Showing both Tony and Libby’s point of view sometimes helped the story. I just think that the end was really rushed.

I’m disappointed that I overpaid this by a dollar. But this is still a good read. The author sticks with the storyline. There isn’t too many redundancies or unneeded extra plots. It’s a good quick read. I’m a hopeless romantic. This feed my craving for a young love blossoming story.

Sadie Beecham has it in her mind that Daniel is “The One.” Ok. But I think Sadie goes to far when the feelings aren’t really reciprocated. As far as Trey Kincaid, he’s more aloft then anything. I think Gaines should have worked more on his transgression of “just a big brother protecting his sister’s wedding” to “falling in love with sister’s bff.” I didn’t really think Trey was in love until almost the end.

The character build was ok. The facts about Saddie’s job as a scientist was too much information needed. I skipped over a bunch of that because it drew me away from the romantic story. Sadie also annoyed me. She’s supposed to be really smart, but the I didn’t believe it.

This was an ok read. I read this in one day. It was a really quick typical read. As a hopeless romantic, I’ve kept this on my kindle for when I crave it. I’ve read this twice now since I’ve purchased it in May 2012.

     heart

This is my favorite Mansell book. This book was a first author read for me. I now like Mansell’s book so I’m trying out her other works.

This is Brit Lit. And it’s got Mansell usual with 5+ character point of views. It is a little too much at times mostly because I wanted to know more about Cleo and Johnny. I loved their romance. A I was also wish that Johnny was more in the story. I still liked how well Jill is able to build these characters up so that they’re likeable.

There is quite a bit of British humor that I really liked. I liked how Cleo (limo driver job) drove a has-been Australian soup star to all his locations while he was in town. The description of the little town of Channing Hill sounds like an ideal vacation place. I also liked the karma that befell on William Newman. I even disliked his name. A very posh Mamma’s boy.

I’ve reread this book a few times now. Each time, the storyline is great and the characters are all likeable.

     heart

This is a first author book I read. I really enjoyed it and I’m now looking into more works by Susanne. The story of the two close friends is both heartwarming and funny.

The two best friends storyline and the sky resort setting intrigued me the most. I loved Clare the most because I can relate to her care free attitude. Just wish that Patrick was more caring towards Clare. He was a bit self-centered in my opinion. He even reminded me of some of my exes. I liked Bernard but felt that he was more a backdrop character.

I think the best way to describe this book is it’s drama. Penny Freeman’s the queen of the melodramatic. I wasn’t to interested in reading about Penny’s point of view. This character puts all other Drama Queens to shame. She’s even over dramatic about having menopause, acting like it was the end of the world.

I bout this back in May of 2012 and have read it twice now. It’s a good chick lit story.

    heart

I first became a fan of Katie Fforde’s when I read “Practically Perfect.” I really liked Anna and her greyhound. I got this kindle book in May 2012 because this storyline sounded good. I wasn’t disappointed. Katie Fforde has a system that I like. And I also like her humor. Katie also sticks with her storyline, rather then having 3 or more character point of views that just clutter the story. In my opinion, Katie creates a story that isn’t cluttered or doesn’t take away from the main character’s story.

Laura Horsley is a likeable character. I enjoyed how passionate she is with books. Like all Katie’s heroines, Laura steps out of her comfort zone. It’s a given that Laura has to find a new job when the bookshop that she current works at closes. A new opportunity falls on Katie’s lap the same day the bookstore closes. A little to easy in my opinion. But I liked the job Laura was given. A big task to manage a book and film festival. I didn’t really believe or care that Laura is a virgin. I did like that Laura learn to break from her structured life and gained confidence.

Dermot Flynn is an author everyone wishes to have at their festival. But doesn’t like doing ‘any’ book publicity stuff. I really liked this Irish hero. Dermot has a bit of attitude edge and cocky, but he also has a soft side to him. I also really liked Laura’s friend, Monica. She has a friendly carefree attitude that I can relate to.

This was an addicting read. It’s my favorite of Katie Fforde’s. I have reread this a few times now. And I recommend this Brit chick lit book.

  • Married By Mistake 3.0 out of 5 stars unrealistic marriage,

I got this kindle ebook back in August of 2012 from Amazon. The storyline intrigues me. I think that this book is barely a 3 star book. It’s a good fluff chick lit book. A good beginning and ending. I felt that the interaction between the two characters (when there was one), was pretty good.

Casey Green is a bit of a push over, but she does grow out of that just a little. Her ideal of marriage is ridiculous I think. Casey marrying someone to help her get away from her family that drags her down shows that she has no.backbone to do things on her own. Also warning bells should have been going through Casey’s head about, Joe Elliott – her fiancee of 7 years. But wait. Her bff encouraged her to go on the show. Pushover. Adam James Carmichael came up with the idea for Casey and him to get married. Pushover.

But like I said. Casey does grow a small backbone at the end of this book. It’s still on my kindle because I might read this again if I want a really light read.

I read this back in 2002 and then again in July 2012 when Amazon offered this for free. I read this a few months before I joined the Navy on January 13, 2003. I served 4 years, half the time as an undesignated Boatswain’s Mate and the last half as a Gunners Mate E4. As far as religion and the military went, our ship’s church was not that big. We had a small office work space as the “church” and one Chaplain for over 1,300 sailors. Also my ship was stationed in San Diego, Ca. It was nice being stationed just 2 hour drive (or Amtrak ride) from my family who lives in L.A. County.

True Devotion was an ok read. It’s the only one of Dee’s that I read. I was more a big Suzanne Brookeman fan at the time. I was intrigued by the storyline and really liked Joe “Bear.” But I felt Kelly is hard to like. She got on my nerves to much for me to like her.

I ended up skipping past some pages that had a faith agenda. There are some Christian Lits that I don’t mind. Joe and Kelly’s faith starts of believable and a little nice to read in small dosages. But then it became redundant and too long of a descriptive. I felt that it took away from the story and that’s why I now skip past the religious parts.

Other than that, the storyline has a typical suspense mystery and a PG romance. I really felt that Debbie could have expanded more on Kelly and Joe’s relationship because it feels rushed.

Read about 7/8th of the book. Stopped reading because they had already reached the end of the HEA. I will read the last portion later (much much later). The storyline is very predictable though. Thank goodness I didn’t have to buy it (free kindle edition).
