this is the capt's gig (boat), the one that is being refurbished, and the one that the capt has yet to personally use since i've been on the ship. as you can see, the boat is almost finished with all the sanding, and paint scrapping (using a razor blade no less to scrape the paint).
this week had some more bad luck. duty on monday night was horrible because i had to hunt down my section leader and remind him that i'm only supposed to have either the 2000 to 2400 watches or the 2400 to 0400. the section leader had me on the 0400 to 0800 watch, so i had to get that fixed, and of course the person that took over that watch cried and complained about having to stand a watch. then i had to hunt down my orders cause the last one expired. the orders expire after 30 days so that i don't lose my sea pay. can't believe time flew by so quickly, but i'm quite happy i'm in coronado. people on the ship are starting to nickname the XO mr. clean and nazi clean.
the worst part of this week is that the deployement rumor started. which turned to a CO meeting with the cheifs and first classes. turned out that there was a leadership meeting, and the CO asked how well people passed down information to the little people (like myself). so he said how many first classes told there people about April 22nd? he was of course mad when only 4 people raised there hands (mind you we have a lot of first classes). so he told the cheifs to pass the word because so far it's probable. but i don't know, the majority (CO including) feels like it won't happen. i suppose what happen was there is some job in april that's being called, and our ship (as always) pulled up in big-bold-flashing letters because we're more qualified. but there's another less qualified ship that's volunteering, and the CO's expressed to the admiral and up, that we've been on 2 deployements in the past 1 and a half, so the ship doesn't want another one, especially when it's scheduled to go on a deployement in 2006.
but the deployements probable. to where? i don't even know.
irony, the deployement probability started the same month of when we've traditional left for a deployement.
it's something though, in april we would be deployementless for one whole year. of course we have our weekday underways, but we've always been back for the weekends. one whole year, it's a record.
